Uniform Policy
School Uniform and Appearance
At Gosberton Academy, we believe that wearing our school uniform helps to create a strong sense of belonging, equality and pride in our academy. We ask all learners to wear the correct uniform and to maintain a smart and appropriate appearance when attending school.
We appreciate the support of our families in helping us to maintain these expectations.
Our School Uniform
Our school uniform consists of:
- Grey or black skirt, trousers or pinafore dress
- Black school polo shirt with academy logo or plain black polo shirt
- Red school sweatshirt with academy logo or plain red jumper/sweatshirt
- White, dark grey or black socks
- Dark grey or black tights
- Plain black, flat school shoes
During warmer weather, learners may also wear:
- Grey or black tailored shorts
- Red and white gingham summer dress
Uniform featuring the Gosberton Academy logo is available from our uniform provider, Nationwide School Uniforms. However, there is no requirement for all uniform to carry the academy logo. Plain items in our school colours can be purchased from supermarkets and other retailers.
We encourage families to choose the option that works best for them.

PE Kit
Learners should wear appropriate clothing for physical education to ensure that they can participate safely and comfortably.
Our PE kit consists of:
- Red school or plain T-shirt
- Black shorts
- Plain black jogging bottoms and sweatshirt for colder weather
- Plimsolls or trainers
A sun hat or cap is also recommended during periods of hot weather.
Learners currently come to school wearing their PE kit on the days when they have PE. Families will be informed of their child's PE days.
Jewellery and Watches
For health and safety reasons, jewellery should not be worn to school, with the following exceptions:
- One small stud earring in each pierced ear
- A wristwatch
Jewellery must be removed for PE and other activities where it may present a safety risk. Learners need to be able to remove their own earrings, as academy staff are unable to remove them on a child's behalf.
Hair and Appearance
We expect hairstyles to be appropriate for school and not to detract from the academy's expectations for smart presentation.
Extreme hairstyles or haircuts, including shaved patterns or designs, are not permitted. Further information regarding our expectations can be found within our School Uniform and Appearance Policy.
Naming Uniform
Please ensure that all items of clothing, footwear and PE kit are clearly labelled with your child's name. This greatly increases the likelihood that misplaced items can be returned to their owner.
Working Together
By choosing Gosberton Academy, we ask families to support the expectations set out within our School Uniform and Appearance Policy.
Our aim is to keep our uniform smart, practical and affordable, while ensuring that all learners feel a sense of belonging and pride in being part of Gosberton Academy.
