World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March, we celebrated World Book Day. We had a whole school focus on ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Oliver Jeffers, which we linked to the British Value- Mutual Tolerance and Respect. We discussed stereotypes and how Duncan could use different colours, such as pink to colour his dinosaur. The children enjoyed decorating a potato as their favourite book character, the most creative potatoes were rewarded with a £5 book voucher, kindly donated by our PTFA. Once again, it was lovely to see many of our parents/ carers come in to share a book with their child/ children, we are always on the lookout for parent volunteers to hear readers across the school. This year, we also held a successful book swap after school. We had over 60 books donated and exchanged, which we hope we can run again in the future.
